Overview
At JOY LIFE CARE SERVICES LTD, the health and safety of our employees, clients, visitors, delivery personnel, contractors, and volunteers is our top priority. We are committed to pursuing and promoting health and safety measures at all levels of our organization.
This policy applies to all employees, agency workers, self-employed contractors, consultants, and volunteers (collectively referred to as “staff members”).
Policy Implementation
– We will take all reasonable and practical steps to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of staff members while at work.
– We will protect the safety and health of any members of the public or other visitors to our business premises and sites.
– We will implement sufficient measures to prevent workplace accidents and work-related illnesses by proactively identifying and managing health and safety risks.
– We will provide clear information, instructions, training, and personal protective equipment to ensure staff members are competent to work safely and responsibly.
– We will engage and consult with staff members regularly regarding health and safety conditions.
– We will have emergency procedures in place for significant events like fires that threaten health and safety.
– We will maintain safe and healthy working environments and provide necessary equipment, tools, and other resources for staff members to carry out their roles safely.
Responsibilities
– **Joy Olohigbe Eze**, Health and Safety Manager, has overall responsibility for overseeing health and safety duties and implementing safety actions.
– Relevant risk assessments will be completed and actions arising from them implemented. Assessments will be reviewed when working conditions or habits change.
– Staff members will receive necessary health and safety training and inductions, including manual handling, and be provided appropriate personal protective equipment when needed.
– Arrangements will be in place to cover remote workers.
Additional Provisions
– **Fire safety:** Staff members will be trained on fire procedures and drills conducted every 6 months. Fire exits, equipment, and signage will be properly maintained.
– **First aid:** Workplace injuries and accidents will be dealt with promptly and reported as required. Our accident book is located in the admin office. First aid boxes are located in the main office.
– **Public health:** Our premises will be kept clean and hygienic, especially during public health emergencies.
– **Equipment use:** Equipment and machinery will be systematically inspected and faults reported to the Health and Safety Manager promptly.
– **Facilities:** Necessary facilities like toilets, kitchens, and drinking water will be provided and maintained.
– **Staff member duties:** Staff members must work safely, follow procedures, report hazards and unsafe conditions, and use personal protective equipment as trained.
– **Policy review:** This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as needed.
